A Better View of God

Read Job 34 – 38

Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if thou hast understanding. Job 38:4 KJV

God is speaking to Job and helping him reach a better perspective of His control than had been expressed by Job in the interaction with his friends. Job had actually been saying God had not dealt fairly with him. He was willing to reprove God in order to justify himself. Most of us have done the same at some point. God helped Job see differently through a series of insightful questions. This creation question is the first of the series, and it makes the vast difference between man and God obvious. When God built the world none of us advised Him on how to do it right. Our ability to advise Him concerning our lives is no better. As he heard God speak, Job was humbled. He should not have found fault with God, or accused Him of being unjust, and should not have insisted on his limited understanding of what God was doing. We have no right to think any different.

Lord, forgive me for the times I have been so arrogant to think I knew better about my life than You, or the times I have questioned Your fairness toward me. I have no right to contend with You at all. You are high, and right, and just. I am simply an object of Your grace for which I am very grateful.
