A Loss of a Generation…

By December 2, 2010No Comments

And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel. Judges 2:10 KJV

It doesn’t take long to lose a generation of young people. All it takes is for one generation to fail to teach the next generation about the person and works of God. In our time I often hear concerns about the direction and lifestyles of our youth. It concerns me as well. But it is so important to recognize where the problem begins. The ignorant generation spoken of in the book Judges began with their fathers who failed to teach them the facts and heart of their faith. When Joshua challenged Israel in Joshua 24, he was giving them an opportunity to save the next generation. We have the same opportunity. First we must check our own relationship with God then we must share it with our children.

Lord, help me maintain a relationship with You that is real and vibrant. Help me be responsible to my children, even now, in sharing with them both the facts and the heart of my faith in You. I do not want the generation that follows me to be ignorant of You.
