A Time for Diligence

Read Romans 13 – 14

And that, knowing the time, that it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. Romans 13:11 KJV

When we understand what a great and wonderful blessing our salvation is and understand each day brings us a little closer to the moment Jesus returns and brings our salvation to completion, it should affect the way we live. The illustration the Apostle Paul uses is of an alarm ringing. Have you ever been asleep, and the alarm began to ring, causing you to rapidly jump out of your bed of ease? The Apostle Paul says the alarm is ringing right now. Now is not the time for ease, but for diligence in our Christian lives. Instead of making provision for the flesh, let us be diligent to put on once and for all the Lord Jesus that He might be reflected in us. We want our attitudes and actions as citizens in this land to show us to be citizens of heaven; motivated by God’s sovereignty, love, and soon return. Not only that our lives might be pleasing to God, but also attract others to Him.

Lord, as a representative of heaven I want to convey submission, obedience, and diligence in the way I live, that my life reflects you as it should and accomplishes the task given by you of reaching others.

A question to ponder: As a citizen of heaven, what should others see and hear from me in relation to the laws and leadership of my earthly citizenship?
