Dead, but Alive

Read Galatians 1 – 3

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20 KJV

What a powerful verse this can be in the life of a Christian who understands and believes its message! As a Christian, when Jesus died on the cross, I was there too; He died in my place, He died for my sins. Roger, the sinner died! All my sins that identified me as a sinner were nailed to the cross with Him! Jesus died for every one of them: past, present, and future. Nevertheless, I now live. I live because of my death to sin. I live because of Jesus, who rose victorious from the dead. I live because He now lives in me and makes me alive in a way that was not possible before. I was alive to sin, but now I am alive to God. Sin separated me from Him, and kept me from living for Him, but when I placed my faith in Jesus Christ as Savior, and was crucified with Him, I became dead to sin and alive to God. Jesus loved us and gave Himself for us that we might live in Him by faith!

Lord, thank you for taking my sins to the cross that I might truly say I am now dead to sin but alive to God. I did not have the ability to change my condition. You did for me what I could not do for myself. I now have life because you live in me. In my daily life decisions help me show I am now dead to sin and alive to God.

A question to ponder: Since I am now dead to sin, when I am being tempted by sin what ability do I now have which I did not have before?
