Giving That Pleases the Lord

Read Exodus 23 – 25

Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring me an offering: of every man that giveth it willingly with his heart ye shall take my offering. Exodus 25:2 KJV

A complaint I have commonly heard from non-church people is that churches are always asking for money. It may be that church people are making the same complaint but because I am a pastor they are not making it to me. God does not ask those who are not His people to give, because of that I have made it a practice never to ask for donations from local businesses or the community in general. God asks His own people to give to the ministries that are important to their spiritually well-being and in fulfillment of His calling in their lives. Second, God does not force His own people to give. They are asked to give willingly; not of constraint but because they want to. You never hear complaints about this kind of giving; only rejoicing over the opportunity. Third, because of His giving relationship with His people, God asks them to give from their heart back to Him.

Lord, You have given so much to me How could I ever complain about any request to give back to You. I understand my giving is not because You need it but because I need to give it. Help me to always giving willingly and cheerfully from my heart.
