God Speaks From The Mercy Seat

By May 31, 2013No Comments

And when Moses was gone into the tabernacle of the congregation to speak with him, then he heard the voice of one speaking unto him from off the mercy seat that was upon the ark of testimony, from between the two cherubims: and he spake unto him. Numbers 7:89 KJV

At the conclusion of the tribal offerings, for the dedication of the altar to be used in the Tabernacle, Moses went into the Most Holy Place of the Tabernacle and heard the voice of God speaking to him from above the mercy seat. The mercy seat was the lid, which covered the Ark of the Covenant. The mercy seat was important for two reasons: the blood of the atonement was sprinkled upon it, the blood of an acceptable sacrifice made it possible for God to meet with man; it was also considered the throne of God for it was above the mercy seat that the shekinah glory or presence of God rested. God still speaks to us from His position of mercy only by the blood of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Lord, I am so grateful You have given to me an even greater privilege than You gave to Moses. Based upon the acceptable sacrifice of Your Son I am able to come before Your throne of mercy at any time to enjoy Your presence and sweet communion with You.
