I Know Not the Lord

Read Exodus 5 – 7

And Pharaoh said, “Who is the LORD that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD; neither will I let Israel go”. Exodus 5:2 KJV

When Moses approached Pharaoh it looked to be a great day. God was with him, the people were behind him, so he walked into Pharaoh’s presence with boldness, declaring the Word of God. However, Pharaoh’s response was not quite what he expected. There was no shaking in fear, no submission instead Pharaoh replied that he did not know the Lord. Such words are tragic regardless of whom they come from. They are tragic because one day they will know Him, not as Savior, but as Judge. They are tragic because He is available to all. Pharaoh could have known the Lord, his predecessors did, but he professed himself to be wise and exchanged the glory of the only-wise God for idols. If today you do not know the Lord, rather than closing your heart to Him, open your heart, and He will reveal Himself as a compassionate Savior rather than a condemning Judge.

Lord, how grateful I am for the day my heart was opened to knowing You rather than denying You. I have come to know You as a compassionate Savior rather than Judge. Thank You for Your availability. Use me in introducing others to You.
