Overcoming Obstacles

And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Jordan, that the waters of Jordan shall be cut off from the waters that come down from above; and they shall stand upon an heap. Joshua 3:13 KJV

In verse 13 God made a promise. As soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that carried the ark would touch the edge of the water He would cause the water to stand in a heap. God wasn’t going to do anymore until they acted upon that promise. He would cause it to happen but they had to first step out in obedient faith. If you and I want God to work wonders in our live and in our family then we must first do what He says. The Israelites could have stayed on the eastside of the Jordan, thinking it was impossible to cross, and nothing would have ever happened. But according to verse 14, the people set out from the camp to cross the Jordan, and as soon as the soles of the priests that carried the ark touched the edge of the water, God caused the Jordan to stand as a heap. When we do what God says we are not going to drown in the floods of life. Our feet are not going to sink in the muddy mire of this world. Like them, we are going to walk on solid ground.

Lord, it easy to read or hear your promises and quite another to act on them. I don’t want to be held back by disobedient unbelief. Like the Israelites, I want to walk through the barriers that might keep me from enjoying your promises.
