Praying for More

And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight. Exodus 33:12 KJV

Exodus 33:12-23 contains a great prayer. Our prayers typically ask God for something. Moses prayed for more of God. His prayer contains three requests. (1) Moses first wanted to know the Lord’s intentions for His people (Verses 12-14). He prayed for God’s direction. God had told Moses to lead the people, but without God’s personal leading, Moses was concerned. To know the right way in life, we need God’s leading. (2) Next, Moses prayed for confirmation that the Lord would go with them (Verses 15-17). Moses said that if God wasn’t going with them, then he did not want to move. Absence of God’s presence would put their lives in jeopardy. If God is not going to be with us, we should not move either. (3) Third, Moses asked to see the glory of God (Verse 18-23). With the intimacy Moses had already experienced, he still wanted to know God better. This request was fulfilled as God allowed Moses to hear His attributes and look upon the aftereffects of His glory. With all the experiences you have had with God, do you still desire more?

Lord, I do want more of You. I want Your direction in my life; I want Your presence in my life; and I want to personally know You better. I have learned that without You my life is nothing, and life itself is meaningless. Lord, show me more of You!
