Reaching the Unreachable

Read 2 Chronicles 33 – 35

And when he was in affliction, he besought the LORD his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers, And prayed unto him: and he was entreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD he was God. 2 Chronicles 33:12-13 KJV

I am always amazed and encouraged when I read the story of Manasseh. He was the worst (the most wicked) king Judah ever had. He killed the prophets and turned the people away from God. Judah never recovered from his wickedness. You would think there is no way to reach such a sinner. We see people around us we put into the same lump. We assume they would never be open to God, that they are unreachable, so we don’t try to reach them or pray for them. But God does not give up on people, even the worst of sinners! That is why He is known to us as a God of grace. He reaches out to sinners with love and forgiveness when we deserve the opposite. With Manasseh, God used affliction to get his attention and humble his heart. As a result, Manasseh repented of his sins, and finished his life serving the Lord. God continues to reach unreachable sinners even today.

Lord, how grateful I am You reach the seemingly unreachable. You drew me by your love when I did not deserve it. When I am tempted to give up on others, people I consider unreachable, remind me You do not give up on them and neither should I.
