Seeing the Creator in Creation

By December 21, 2013No Comments

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse. Romans 1:20 KJV

The book of Romans is widely recognized as the Apostle Paul’s introduction to Bible doctrine. As he begins to set forth his case for faith in Jesus Christ, he starts with general revelation. Paul is saying that our initial understanding of God comes from the created world around us. It is a starting place; it teaches us enough to know that God is real, and enough to want to know Him better. As it is presented in this verse, general revelation has a three-fold purpose: (1) it manifests to all people the existence of God; (2) it illustrates for all people the person and power of God; and (3) it makes all people accountable to God and without excuse in judgment. Creation points us to the Creator if we will look.

Lord, how thrilling it is to look into the heavens or to look upon the countryside from a high vantage point and be lifted in contemplation of You. I enjoy what it teaches me about Your beauty, power, and wisdom.
