Serving God His Way

By August 20, 2013No Comments

And when they came to Nachon’s threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it. And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God. 2 Samuel 6:6-7 KJV

David had a good desire. He wanted to reunite the people of Israel with God. Uzzah also had a good desire. He wanted to keep the Ark from falling off the cart. It is possible to have a good desire but seek to fulfill it in a wrong way. God had given clear instructions on how the Ark was to be moved. Not even a new cart met the requirements. David had either ignored the instructions or had not made himself aware of them. Uzzah was struck dead instantly because the holiness of God was violated. Not even the appointed priests were allowed to touch the Ark. While in our excitement for Him we want to do things in our service for God but we often fall short because we do not give attention to His Word.

Lord, I want to serve You and show my appreciation for all You have done in my life. Instead of doing so my way, impress upon my heart the need to give attention to Your Word and to serving You according to Your will.
