The Birthplace of Christ

By October 12, 2013No Comments

But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. Micah 5:2 KJV

When the wise men from the east came looking for the newly born King of the Jews, Herod the king gathered the chief priests and scribes demanding where the Messiah was to be born, they quoted Micah 5:2. Based on this scripture, Herod sent the wise men to Bethlehem, and there they found the Christ child. Imagine, hundreds of years after they were written; these men looked to Scriptures for direction and got it! Besides His birth place, we learn another truth about the Messiah: His goings forth had been from eternity. The child prophesied to be born in Bethlehem was preexistent, the Messiah would not only be a man but was also God! Here is a clear Old Testament statement on the divinity of Christ!

Lord, how wonderful are the plans You have for us! At a most difficult time in Israel’s history, You planned for their future and ours. Marvelous is Your grace! The preciseness of Your Word is encouraging, they followed it, found it true, and so can we.
