Read Leviticus 3: 1-17

And the priest shall burn them upon the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire for a sweet savor: all the fat is the Lord’s. Leviticus 3:16 KJV

Leviticus 3 describes the peace offering, a voluntary sacrifice which expressed fellowship with God and His people. This was the only sacrifice which allowed the worshipper to keep a portion of it to enjoy with family and friends. It emphasized that forgiveness of sins resulted in communion with God and His people. Verses 11 and 16 indicate the portion burnt on the altar was considered the food of the offering. As the priest, family and friends feasted on their portion of the offering in peaceful fellowship with one another, God also feasted in fellowship with them through the food of the offering, this meant God was at peace with them and they were at peace with Him. Colossians 1:20 teaches the sacrifice of Christ on the cross was the ultimate peace offering, He made peace possible between us and God that we might feast in peaceful fellowship together.

Lord, as the food of the offering, Christ on the cross, has been a sweet savor to you; it has also been so for me. I am thankful for all you have done to make peaceful fellowship possible between us. Help me use every opportunity to feast with you.
