The Opportunity of Salvation

Read John 3 – 4

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 KJV

All that we need to know about God, Jesus, ourselves, and heaven is in this verse. God loves us. Not only does He love us, He has acted on His love, reaching out to us by the sending of His Son. Jesus came and He lived among us, identified with us, and died for us. Without the gift of His Son we perish, eternally separated from God. Those who believe or place their trust in Jesus receive everlasting life; life without end. Heaven becomes their expectation! All that is left is for us to believe. This message was not just for Nicodemus, a religious Jew, but for whosoever. To the non-religious, God says look! To the religious, God says look! To the sinner, God says look! To whosoever, God says look! It is the one thing all must do. Those who do not, are already under condemnation. Those who do, experience eternal life. Have you looked believingly to the Son of God?

Lord, how grateful I am for Your love, and the gift of Your Son. It provided me an opportunity I could not have made for myself. Already condemned, there was nothing I could do to change my course. The opportunity to look to Jesus changed everything.

A question to ponder: Do you remember looking by faith to Jesus, trusting Him for salvation from sin and eternal life?
