The Pattern of God

Read Exodus 26 – 27

And look that thou make them after their pattern, which was showed thee in the mount. Exodus 25:40 KJV

In Exodus 25-27, building instructions are provided for the tabernacle and its furniture. The tabernacle was to provide a place where God would dwell among His people, and where they could meet with Him. Perhaps the single most important instruction in the building of the tabernacle and its furniture was that the pattern God showed to Moses on the mountain. It was to be followed in every detail. There was no room for improvising. They were to meet with God only on His terms. Today, we do not meet with God in a tent and through sacrifices instead we meet with Him in the person of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, and through His sacrifice alone. There is no place for even the slightest deviation. Acts 4:12 teaches there is no other name given among men whereby we must be saved. Not everyone is willing to accept such limitations given by God. They come up with their own plan, but ultimately they must still answer to Him.

Lord, I am grateful that You have provided a clear way of access and communion with You. How foolish it is for us to think we could ever approach You on our own terms or in our own creative ways. I am grateful there is only one way, the Lord Jesus Christ.
