The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law. Deuteronomy 29:29 KJV
Secret things refer to those things which God for good reason has chosen not to reveal to us. These may be details about His actions, His future plans, or His judgments. Too many of us get hung up on what we do not and cannot know. Some spend much time trying to figure out what God has not told us. To chase the secret things over the revealed things is foolishness. Moses reminded the people of Israel their responsibility was clearly revealed in the Law of God, and rather than chasing after the secret things they were to do the revealed things. Searching the secret things is often a cover up for disobedience. Nothing less is true today. We have God’s revealed will in the Bible. Rather than pursuing the things we cannot know or even sitting in judgment of them, God holds us accountable for what He has revealed. The secret things belong to God; the revealed things belong to us.
Lord, help me never waste precious time seeking to know things, which in your wisdom, you have chosen not to reveal. Help me not question what you are doing or to sit in judgment of it. Instead, help me know those things you have revealed and to do them.
