The Thoughts and Ways of God

By August 8, 2014No Comments

Read Isaiah 51 – 55

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9 KJV

The ways and thoughts of God are different from those of man. That should not be too surprising and yet it often is. We try to bring God down to our level so He thinks and behaves like us. We want Him to accept our ways of living and our thoughts about living. It bothers us when He doesn’t. However, our ways and thoughts are far too shortsighted. We live and think from our limited point of view. It is a vantage point affected by the ways of this world; the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life (1John 2:16), which are not of God. Our vantage point is also affected by need, especially our need of salvation from sin. God looks at life in general and our lives in particular from a wholly different point of view. He is without sin, He sees the big picture, He knows the beginning from the end, and He has what we need, salvation from the sins of our world.

Lord, I am glad Your ways are not my ways and Your thoughts are not my thoughts. I am earth bound and need Your perspective, direction, and help from heaven. Thank You for reaching down from heaven to do for me what nothing and no one could on earth.
