The Unpardonable Sin

By October 9, 2014No Comments

Read Mark 3 – 4

But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation. Mark 3:29 KJV

This statement is referred to as The Unpardonable Sin, which Jesus defined as blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. The possibility of committing this sin has terrified many, and it should, because it leads to eternal damnation. The men that Jesus gave this warning to, by misrepresenting the work of the Holy Spirit in Him, were rejecting the only avenue of salvation available to them. They were rejecting Jesus Christ, whom the Father sent to save them, by saying His miracles were done in the power of Satan rather than the Holy Spirit. The unpardonable sin is the continued rejection of the testimony of the Spirit in all Jesus accomplished. As a person continues to do so, their hearts are hardened until they cross a line of no return. How can we be certain never to commit this sin? By yielding to the work of the Spirit in the testimony of Scripture, and receiving Jesus Christ as Savior.

Lord, I am grateful for the work of the Holy Spirit in all that You did for me, especially Your death at the cross and resurrection from the grave. I am also grateful for His convicting work in my own life which brought me to faith in You.

A question to ponder: If The Unpardonable Sin is to go into eternity without Jesus as Savior, what is the best thing I can do for those I come into contact with?
