The Valley of Dry Bones

By September 30, 2013No Comments

And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest. Ezekiel 37:3 KJV

This is one of my favorite visions in the Bible. God had taken Ezekiel to a valley full of dry bones. There, God asked him if the bones could live again. It would seem impossible, but Ezekiel answered that the Lord knew. This was a great answer. It allowed God to be God and it left room for faith. Certainly from man’s perspective it was impossible, but with God nothing is impossible. Too often we limit what God can or will do by our lack of faith. The bones represented the people of Israel, they were spiritually dead, but God was going to cause them to live again. At His command, Ezekiel preached the Word to them and with the Spirit of God the bones amazingly took on flesh and became a great army.

Lord, with You nothing is impossible. You still make dead, dry bones live. Raise us up from our spiritual deadness today. Cause us to hear Your Word, submit to Your Spirit and live as the mighty people of God we are to be.
