Trusting God in Difficult Places

By January 23, 2014No Comments

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and encamp before Pihahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, over against Baalzephon: before it shall ye encamp by the sea. Exodus 14:1-2 KJV

It’s hard for us to understand, but sometimes when we are doing exactly what the Lord wants us to do we end up in a situation that seems impossible. That’s what happened to the people of Israel when they left Egypt. Following the precise directions given by God, they were in a mess. Before them was the Red Sea, on either side of them were enemy fortress’, and behind them Pharaoh’s army. No way out! Perhaps at some point you have been in such a predicament. Our response is no better than Israel’s. Panicking, they feared for their lives and questioned the leadership of Moses. However, this whole predicament was according to God’s plan. God had them in that tight spot for a reason. From this we learn there is no better place to be than with our back up against the wall when God is leading. That’s where God opens a way that was not there before. In order to experience it we must follow His leading, trust Him in the difficulty, and move forward by faith.

Lord, although You never fail us, we often question Your leading. We don’t understand some of the spots we get in, and wonder what You are doing. From experience and the teachings of Your Word we should know You can be trusted, and yet, too often we lack faith. Thank You for Your patience and for placing us in situations where we can learn to trust You.
