We Have A Mediator

Read Job 7 – 10

For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, and we should come together in judgment. Neither is there any daysman betwixt us that might lay his hand upon us both. Job 9:32-33 KJV

In the intensity of his struggles Job fully understood the distance between himself and God. God was holy and he was not. Because of this distance, Job longed for a daysman, a mediator who could come between God and man, and touch both. There may have been a time in your own life you had that very same thought. You tried to get God’s notice and it didn’t seem like you could, and you just wished that someone could bring the two of you together. Job’s desire was answered. 1Timothy 2:5 says there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. Jesus is God the Son, but also took on Himself the likeness of man that He might be touched by us and help in our times of need (Hebrews 4:15-16). He especially did this when He went to the cross, took our place, and died for our sins. Because of what He has done, we can go to Him for understanding and help.

Lord, what a great privilege You have given unto us! We can go to You in every situation of need and know You both hear and understand. What a shame we fail to use this privilege more often. Help me to go to You in every situation, for You are my Daysman.

A question to ponder: Job longed for a mediator, but with faith in Christ, Jesus is my mediator. What blessings do I have that Job did not?
