Facing Our Challenges with Faith

By March 31, 2015No Comments

Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. 1 Samuel 17:45 KJV

I am challenged by David’s declaration of faith. These were the words he spoke as he faced Goliath the giant Philistine. Goliath seemed to have every advantage: size, weapons, and experience. David’s declaration points out that the weapons of God’s people are different. Too many of us fall into the trap of thinking we meet the challenges of this world by using the strategies and tools of this world. But for God’s people it is faith in the Lord that gives us the victory. With confident faith David declared that the Lord would deliver him. Can you imagine the difference it would make for each of us if we would face all our challenges that way? As the Apostle Paul says in Romans 8:31, if God be for us who can be against us!

Lord, too often I rely on my own resources when facing difficult challenges in my life. No wonder I fail. Help me face such challenges in Your name and with the resources You have provided for me.
