Washington, ILBBC–USA staff began making calls after hearing reports of tornadoes touching down across the Midwest Sunday afternoon, Nov. 17. All fellowshipping churches in the line of the tornadoes have so far reported no damage to their church buildings, with few reports of church members’ homes incurring damage. Praise the Lord!

On the other hand, neighborhoods have been destroyed, as seen in pictures displayed by news media. BBC–USA Director Michael Nolan talked with the IL-MO state representative, Bernie Augsburger, who lives in Washington, Ill., one of the areas hardest hit, and with other pastors. Authorities are telling them to stay out of the devastated neighborhoods while assessment is ongoing.

BBC-USA Disaster Relief was created for situations just like this and is ready to help and will help. Areas affected are still in the recovery and discovery mode, so it could be at least a week before BBC–USA learns what it can do. Multiple churches say there will be a need and they will have an outreach. They appreciate BBC–USA’s forward thinking and preparation now.
