The God Who Saves

Read Isaiah 41 – 45

There is no God else beside me; a just God and a Savior; there is none beside me. Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. Isaiah 45:21b-22 KJV

These statements stand in opposition to false images of God which was being promoted in Isaiah’s day. Although this was a problem way back then, it continues to be prevalent even in our own day. People cast off what the Bible teaches about God for their own self-made images of Him. The challenge is to bring such false ideas together and see if their combined wisdom and effort can do anything to save us. It is implied that nothing would happen because these other ideas about God are not real. There is only one God, the God of the Bible. He is just and is the only God who saves because there is none other. If there is only one God, then only one God can save! No matter where we live, from one end of the earth to the other, God is available to save us from our sins, instead of looking to false images that cannot help, change our situation, or save us, be sure to look to the true God.

Lord, according to Your Word I have found You to be the God who saves, help me to discard any false ideas I may have about You as I get to know You better through Your Word. Your Word is true and provides the only means of truly knowing You.

A question to ponder: If there is only one God who saves people from their sins, then what is my responsibility to the people I come in contact with?
