FULLERTON, Neb.—The Victory Baptist Church family is enjoying their finished foyer. They built it with help from the Baptist Builders Club, which provided a $7,500 grant and $5,000 loan as part of its Build Up program.

Victory Baptist is part of the Nebraska Association of Regular Baptist Churches and has been formally associated with the GARBC since 2001. Previously the church building—a former hospital—had a porch but no foyer. The porch was removed, and the foyer was built using the trusses taken from the remodeled auditorium. Alluding to reusing the trusses, Fran Cupples, wife of pastor Roy Cupples, says, “Our men have been very resourceful.” They built the foyer and did all the work themselves. She says the church is blessed with capable men.

Not having a foyer was a distinct disadvantage for the church. Fran says: “Before the foyer, we had no place for folks to visit or gather before or after services, and we had a bottleneck in the short hallway.” Now when folks visit, “they make very positive comments on the foyer addition and the remodeled auditorium,” she says. These improvements come in handy when the community joins the church family for events such as special meetings, choir programs, the church’s Love One Another Banquet in February, Christmas cantatas, Readers’ Theatre, and soup suppers. Fran says, “We have funerals at our church for those who do not have a church home. The foyer is easy to get into and out of with a casket and easy for folks in wheelchairs or with walking problems.”

Fran says: “It is a wonderful blessing to have the foyer space. It was especially good when we had the Nebraska Association of Regular Baptist Churches fall conference at our church. There was plenty of room for fellowship in the foyer along with four or five display tables. Baptist Builder’s Club has been a great blessing and help to us and to many other churches. WE THANK YOU!”
