Imagine, of all people, it was a group of shepherds to first hear of the birth of Christ. God not only sent His Son in the most humble of circumstances, but also chose to announce His birth to people of humble means; simple, hard-working people of the countryside. The angel said he had news of great joy for all people and this certainly emphasized that! As soon as the angel made this announcement, the heavens were filled with angels giving praise to God. As glorious as that moment must have been (I can not even begin to imagine it!), it could not compare with the moment they personally set their eyes on the child in the manger, and beheld His glory. Their lives were changed forever! Leaving the scene of His birth they shared the news with everyone!
Lord, the announcement of Your birth to simple shepherds emphasizes that You are a Savior for all who will receive You. As the shepherds believed and then joyously shared the news with others, help me tell others about You with the same kind of enthusiasm.
