Created for Glory

By April 11, 2011No Comments

For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet. Psalm 8:5-6 KJV

Verse 4 begins with this question, “What is man?” Verses 5-6 answer that question on the basis of creation. We were made. Do not overlook that simple statement: we were made! Our existence is not by chance but God’s creation! And notice how we were made: (1) A little lower than the angels. Since both are created in the image of God this humiliation relates to our present position of earthly existence. (2) Crowned with glory and honor. Many today teach that we are no better than other creatures but God formed us for a honored position over the rest of creation. (3) Dominion over His works. We are to be responsible managers of God’s creation. All of mankind was created with great potential!

Lord, according to Hebrews 2:6-10, You are the fulfillment of all man was made to be, and because of Your work at the cross, it is only through You that man can still reach his original potential. Help me to always live in submission to You that I might be all that God has intended me to be.
