Faith That Stands

Read Acts 27 – 28

Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me. Acts 27:25 KJV

The Apostle Paul was on a ship as a prisoner headed for Rome. If that wasn’t bad enough, the ship was in a terrible storm and every one feared for their lives. Instead of just being a victim of his circumstances, Paul seized upon the situation as an opportunity to stand up for Jesus. When things were as bad as they could be, he sought to encourage others with his faith in the Lord. When others were giving up, he was encouraging them to look up. That’s what God wants us to do in our adverse circumstances of life as well. Instead of just making our lives easy because we are Christians, He wants to use us in the midst of every difficult storm everyone else has to go through so our faith can be a bright shining testimony when people need to see it the most. When storms are at their worst our faith should shine its very best. In such circumstances people are ready to hear a clear answer.

Lord, too often I get discouraged when life is not as good as I think it should be. Because of this I miss opportunities to provide a shining testimony of the difference you make in life. Help me stand, not only when the sailing is smooth, but especially when it is stormy.

A question to ponder: What makes a difficulty in the life of a Christian the best opportunity to share a testimony of faith with others facing the same challenge?
