God’s Plan for Success

By March 9, 2014No Comments

Read Joshua 1 – 4

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Joshua 1:8 KJV

It seems most people want to be successful, myself included. Here is a promise of success from God. It may not be success by this world’s standard, but it is success by the standard that counts. Joshua, taking over the leadership of Israel following the death of Moses, was afraid of failure. God encouraged him to think about His Word in every situation, he was not to turn from it to the left or to the right, and he was to be sure to follow it. Upon doing so, his way would be prosperous because it would be based upon the unchanging truth of God’s Word. In our world of constantly changing standards and authorities we need to do what Joshua was told to do. We need to meditate on God’s Word, stick to God’s Word, and obey God’s Word. Such a course of action will cause us to prosper in all the ways that count. We will enjoy the success that comes from God rather than that of the world.

Lord, I am grateful for Your Word. Help me to think upon it through the day and not to turn from it in any way. Your Word is truth and will always point in the right direction. It will especially point me in the direction that is pleasing to You and prosperous for me.
