Neglecting God’s Blessing

Read Joshua 18 – 19

And there remained among the children of Israel seven tribes, which had not yet received their inheritance. And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the LORD God of your fathers hath given you? Joshua 18:2-3 KJV

In Joshua 18-19, the people had moved from Gilgal, the place of sacrifice, to Shilo, the place of rest; the Tabernacle was up, God was in their midst, and the land conquered. It was now time for them to take possession of their inheritance. It is hard to imagine, but they were not interested. Seven tribes had not even come forward to receive what God was giving them. Not only was the land waiting their possession, but also the blessings that went with it. What was the problem? After seven years in the land they were weary of fighting, they wanted to take it easy for awhile, and they had lost their passion. That was a dangerous attitude to have because their enemy still possessed many areas of the land. Joshua understood if they did not continue to take possession of their inheritance, they never would, and even with all they accomplished, ultimately the enemy would win.

Lord, it is not hard to see that we still have the same problem today. You have so much to give to us, but too often we are simply not taking. The willingness and passion to fully possess Your blessings seems to be missing. Lord, keep me from becoming weary in the battle, keep me from neglecting Your gifts, and keep me passionate for Your blessings.
