Our Need for Regular Church Attendance

By June 6, 2013No Comments

And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. Hebrews 10:24-25 KJV

This has been a favorite passage for preachers when giving consideration to the high rate of church absenteeism among some church members. At least it is one of my favorites. I say some because that is the word used in the passage, but sometimes the word many seems more appropriate. Regular church attendance is intended to meet a specific need in the life of every Christian. Apparently, without the exhortation we receive through regular church attendance, we do less and love less than we should. Regular Christian fellowship and Biblical exhortation provokes us to love and work the way God wants us to as His children. Considering the evil day we live in, we need more provocation, not less of it.

Lord, how grateful I am for the encouragement and exhortation I have received throughout my life because of regular church attendance. I believe I am a better Christian for it than I could have been without it.
