Persuading Others

Read Acts 24 – 26

Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian. Acts 26:28 KJV

While in prison in Caesarea, waiting transfer to Rome, the Apostle Paul was given the opportunity to share his testimony with King Agrippa. The response of the king has become well known. He said he was almost persuaded concerning the gospel. Of all the things we could talk about where almost isn’t good enough, this is the most tragic. Almost home in baseball can cost the game and be heartbreaking but it is just a game. Almost persuaded but not quite regarding salvation will cost a soul eternity. Can anything be more tragic? I have talked with too many who were almost persuaded. I hope not any of you. They say it makes sense but they are not ready to make such a decision. Or they say there are other things they want to do first. The response of the Apostle Paul in verse 29 should be ours as well; that all we talk with would altogether know Jesus as their Savior.

Lord, too often I do not persuade others to know Christ as I should. The outcome is too important for me to be neglectful. Help me take every opportunity I have to persuade others to know you and experience your salvation.

A question to ponder: What excuses do people use for being almost rather than altogether persuaded, and what responses can be given to them?
