Prayer that Shakes You Up

By December 9, 2013No Comments

And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. Acts 4:31 KJV

Acts 4:24-31 contains one of the great prayers of the Bible. There are several observations I would like to share with you: (1) This prayer was born out of witness and service for the Lord. (2) It was unified prayer. (3) Their praying was based solidly on the Word of God. (4) They did not pray to have their circumstances changed, but asked God to empower them to make the best of their circumstances. (5) They acknowledged God as the Sovereign Creator, who is in control of all things. (6) They wanted, above everything else, to glorify God’s child, Jesus Christ. As a result of this prayer meeting, they were moved, God shook the place. God still moves people with prayer, may He move us too!

Lord, too much of my own praying leaves me the same; I am not shook up or moved. I want to be shaken, moved, and emboldened as a result of the time I spend with You. Help me pray as these early believers did.
