Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. Job 1:6 KJV
People are often shocked to learn that Satan has access to God in heaven. We would like to think that Satan is locked away without access to God or to us as His people. That day will come in the future but for now God has allowed Satan access. This should not be as frightening as it seems to be to some. This is not a meeting of equals. God is always in control and uses such encounters to keep Satan in his place. Here, Satan accuses God of making life too easy for Job. As the events of the book of Job unfold, I am especially encouraged by two things: God is always in control and Satan is always limited. As long as I understand these two basic facts, I will never need to fear what Satan can do to me.
Lord, how glad I am that You make the final decisions about my life. I realize that Satan is a real enemy and, according to Your Word, is out to destroy me, but it is comforting to know that he can never do more than You allow.
