Seeing the Will of God

Read Genesis 45 – 47

Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life. Genesis 45:5 KJV

Here Joseph reveals the character of man he had become as he trusted God through the circumstances of his life. He had every reason to be bitter toward his brothers and to take revenge for the harm they had done him many years before. Instead, he forgave them, and treated them with kindness. Instead of dwelling on their wicked deed, he saw the good will of God at work in his behalf and their behalf. God is at work in our lives too. He uses both the good and the bad we experience to accomplish His will for our life also. Too often though, we are distracted by the actions of others against us. We dwell so much on what they have done we cannot see what God is doing. How much better it is to trust God in everything, both the good and the bad. Although none of us enjoys the difficulties we go through, when we trust God through them, we mature and His will is accomplished.

Lord, help me to focus on what you are doing in my life rather than on what others are doing against me. Help me to live above my circumstances as I trust in your good will.

A question to ponder: What difficulty have I gone through that now looking back I can see how God was working in it for my good?
