The Buffer Between God and Man

By May 25, 2013No Comments

But the Levites shall pitch round about the tabernacle of testimony, that there be no wrath upon the congregation of the children of Israel: and the Levites shall keep the charge of the tabernacle of testimony.  Numbers 1:53 KJV

After the completion of the Tabernacle the tribal units of the people of Israel were assigned positions around it. They all had equal access for worship, for atonement of sin, and to God. However, the Levitical tribe, which made up the priestly order, was arranged differently. They were positioned all the way around between the Tabernacle and the other eleven tribes. They served in a spiritually strategic position as a protective buffer between God and the people. Today the Lord Jesus Christ serves in that position for us. Based upon His sacrifice for sin, no one goes to the Father but through Him. Jesus Christ stands between the wrath of God and man. How thankful we should be for such a buffer.

Lord, thank You for granting me access into Your presence based on the work of Jesus Christ. I am also grateful that He stands between You and me in order to protect me from my own sinful ways. Help me to appreciate what You have done for my protection.
