The Distorted View of Impurity

By May 28, 2013No Comments

Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. Titus 1:15 KJV

The truth of this statement is often illustrated in how it is abused. To the pure all things are pure is used as an excuse for sin. They say to see sin in their actions indicates a dirty mind. However, a pure heart does not make sin pure. That is the deception of a defiled mind. Our perspective of sin does not change it. The opposite is true. People with impure minds see even good things in sinful ways. Think of how the movie industry works, even programs for children insert a little immoral humor and call it innocent humor, but there is nothing innocent about it at all. The pure pursue things that are pure, but the impure make even the things that are pure impure because of their twisted way of looking at life.

Lord, protect me from an impure mind that would distort the way I see sin and make even the distortion of pure things acceptable to me. Help me pursue things that are pure and see sin for what it is.
