The Fall of Satan

By September 6, 2015No Comments

Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. Ezekiel 28:15 KJV

Some would have us believe that Ezekiel 28:11-16 only describe a human king in poetic language, but I hope you understand that God speaks only truth and the statements made in these verses cannot be applied to any man. In the opening verses of this chapter, Ezekiel does pronounce judgment against the King of Tyre, but then the prophet’s words move beyond the human ruler to the real power behind him: Satan. His original state and fall due to sin are described for us. If there is anything we should learn from this it is that being the best and having the best is no guarantee that we will keep it. Sin robs us of God’s best. The one and only thing that would have kept Lucifer in his original state was obedience.

Lord, just as Satan fell from perfection because of sin, there is far less that keeps me from falling. As obedience was the key for Satan, I understand it is for me too. Help me continue to enjoy the best You have for me as I seek to trust and obey You.
