The Invitation of Jesus Christ

By October 4, 2015No Comments

Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 KJV

Most people enjoy receiving invitations of one kind or another. Here is an invitation from Jesus Christ. It is given to every kind of person imaginable. Jesus invited fishermen, tax collectors, sinners, prostitutes, the rich, the poor, the young, the old, and even the religious. His was truly an invitation for everyone. He invited all to come. Here, He especially had in view those who are weary from carrying burdens: the cares of life, regrets, old hurts, and past mistakes or sins. People carry a lot of things. The rest Jesus promises is a quiet peace within us, with life, and especially with Him. Above all, it is an eternal rest. The invitation of Jesus is given to all, but not everyone accepts. Have you?

Lord, having accepted Your invitation to come to You, I am grateful for the emotional and spiritual rest I have received. Thank You for Your invitation, promise, and rest.
