The Most Holy Blood

By February 3, 2015No Comments

Read Leviticus 5 – 7

Whatsoever shall touch the flesh thereof shall be holy: and when there is sprinkled of the blood thereof upon any garment, thou shalt wash that whereon it was sprinkled in the holy place. Leviticus 6:27 KJV

When a sacrifice of sin was made, if any of the blood from the sacrifice ended up on the garment of the priest he had to make sure that garment was washed clean. This was not required for the sake of the garment but for the sake of the blood. The blood of the sacrifice was most holy. It could not be carried out of the sanctuary on that garment into everyday life. To do so would have been to treat the blood, which foreshadowed the sacrifice of Christ as a common thing. Such an act was not permitted. This brought to my mind the warning of Hebrews 10:29, which warns of great punishment for all who trample under their feet the blood of Christ treating it as a common thing. To reject the salvation made available because of the sacrifice of Christ is to trample on it. But for those of us, who have been washed by the blood of Christ, when we willfully continue in sin it seems even worst, for we carry His most holy blood on us into our sinful lifestyle.

Lord, how grateful I am to have been made clean by Your sacrifice for sin. How shameful I am that too often I have carried Your most holy blood with me in sin. Forgive me for such times of personal unholiness.
