The Surgeon’s Knife in My Life

By June 3, 2013No Comments

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12 KJV

The Word of God is here compared with a sharp double-edged sword. Although a sword, God is not using His Word to destroy us, rather He is using it as a skilled physician to penetrate our lives for good. I recently had minor knee surgery. With a very small cut the surgeon was able to penetrate my knee and remove an offending piece of cartilage. That’s what the Word of God does; it penetrates the heart, soul, and spirit of our lives as no human instrument can. It is able to expose or discern what is right and wrong in the very thoughts and intentions of our heart. Then, knowing where the problems are, the Word of God is able to remove and correct, for our good, the most intimate details of our lives.

Lord, I appreciate the precise ability of Your Word to reach parts of by inner being that I have hidden even from myself. Because of the detailed surgeries it has accomplished in my life I am able to walk with You far better than I ever could without it.
