The Temple of the Holy Spirit

By April 27, 2013No Comments

What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 1 Corinthians 6:19 KJV

When we receive Jesus Christ as our Savior, our body becomes the Temple of the Holy Spirit. He takes up residence in our lives. What a difference that should make for us! Do we need any other incentive to live lives that are holy and spiritual than this biblical truth that God lives in us? I don’t think so. As a result, we are to glorify God with our bodies. When we allow our eyes to see things they should not see, when we allow our lips to say words they should not speak, when we use our hands to do things they should not do, and when we allow our feet to go places they should not go, we must keep in mind that God the Holy Spirit resides in us. That should be all the incentive we need for holy living!

Lord, surely this is a tremendous privilege we enjoy, and it is only by Your grace that we do. Without question it should be enough incentive for holy living, however, I still fail to live up to it. My temple is not always as clean as it should be. Forgive me for my shortcomings, and help me to live the holy life You have provided for me.
