The Value of a Simple Greeting

By April 25, 2013No Comments

Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my helpers in Christ Jesus. Romans 16:3 KJV

Romans chapter 16 illustrates, more than any other portion of God’s Word, the value of greeting one another.  The word greet simply refers to a brief word of friendliness. A greeting makes people feel comfortable, welcomed, cared for, and important. Greetings minister to us, they encourage us, and they break down barriers between us. In most cases, all it takes to encourage a discouraged soul is a heart-felt greeting. There is a key that we need to keep in mind though, which will help us be great greeters for Christ: It is impossible to sincerely greet others if we do not really care about them. However, if we have a sincere interest in others, then they will always feel genuinely greeted by us.

Lord, I know how good it feels to be recognized by others and properly greeted whether out in public or at church. Too often though, I fail to provide this simple but most important ministry to others. Please help me to never overlook the need to greet others.
