Build Up Update from Oak Grove Baptist Church

By February 21, 2012No Comments

Kansas City, Kan.—In April 2011, Baptist Builders Club granted Oak Grove Baptist Church $5,000 to assist with remodeling an outdated foyer and establishing a secure way to check in their little ones.

Pastor Aaron Patton wrote, “Your contributions to our ministry have impacted and will impact people for eternity.”

The Oak Grove Baptist family, with assistance from friends, was able to finish the work without using outside paid workers. Here’s a brief review of what they accomplished:

  • Purchased two computers, label printers, and the rights to KIDZ PRO, a tracking software
  • Set up one kiosk in the foyer for checking in children (a second kiosk will be added)
  • Remodeled the foyer and a hallway outside the auditorium
  • Added a welcome center for guests
  • Updated the décor

Pastor Patton describes the foyer’s appearance and the additional technology as “nice,” but he points out that they are not the most important things. Summing up the heart of Baptist Builders Club, he says, “We are here to make more and better disciples.” During the remodeling phase, over 60 first-time guests visited the church, seven new Christians were baptized, and four more were yet to be baptized.

Pastor Patton asks for prayer for a family who visited the church and then volunteered to help with the remodeling. “They most likely don’t know Christ,” he says. He also asks for continued prayer “for us and God’s working in our area. People are getting saved here, and we continue to equip them to help others.” He closed his letter with an expression of gratitude: “Thank you for your gift to us for God’s glory.”
