God Sees It All

Read Proverbs 14 – 16

The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. Proverbs 15:3 KJV

Since God is spirit (John 4:24), He does not have physical eyes as we do, but the Bible describes Him this way that we might understand His intimate awareness of our every activity. This verse illustrates one of the attributes of God. He is all-knowing. He knows what is happening everywhere. He sees the good and the bad. The fact that He sees the bad is a warning to those who do evil; evil doers will not get away with anything. They will be held accountable for every evil deed (Revelation 20:12-13), that they seen to get away with their behavior is only due to the longsuffering of God giving them ample opportunity to repent. His awareness should also be an encouragement to those who do well. He is not just making notations of good and bad deeds, 1 Peter 3:12 indicates He is against the evil and watches over the good. He looks upon those who do well with favor.

Lord, Your intimate awareness of my every deed is an encouragement because sometimes I feel like the things I do go unnoticed and it is enough for me You know. That You see every deed is also a challenge because I am not always as good as I should be. Help me live so my whole life is pleasing to You.

A question to ponder: Since God sees the good and the bad in my life, should my behavior be cause for alarm, or encouragement?
